At Corpus Christi we teach writing through reading.
We carefully choose texts that are age appropriate and have been researched by CLPE (Centre for Literacy in Primary Education) in order to plan our 2 year curriculum.
The selected texts are detailed below.
Phonics for Spelling
In this video, we learn some background information on the research surrounding using phonics to teach spelling, and are introduced to the idea of applying phonics for application in Key Stage 2.
Increasing the Repertoire
In this video, we consider how children can build upon the phonics sounds learnt in FS and KS1, and add to these as they move through Key Stage 2.
Increasing the Application
An introduction to more complex words which use the phoneme grapheme correspondence already taught.
This video provides a helpful progression from Year R to Year 5/6
In this video, we learn when and how children should be exposed to new spellings for different phonemes. We also consider the variety of approaches that can be taken in order to spell correctly, drawing upon morphology, etymology and orthography.
