At Corpus Christi we teach writing through reading. 

We carefully choose texts that are age appropriate and have been researched by CLPE (Centre for Literacy in Primary Education) in order to plan our 2 year curriculum.

Phonics for Spelling

 

In this video, we learn some background information on the research surrounding using phonics to teach spelling, and are introduced to the idea of applying phonics for application in Key Stage 2.

Increasing the Repertoire

Controlled Exposure

In this video, we learn when and how children should be exposed to new spellings for different phonemes. We also consider the variety of approaches that can be taken in order to spell correctly, drawing upon morphology, etymology and orthography.
