Whilst in the the Early Years setting at Corpus Christi, the children are taught using a child centred, play based approach. The curriculum is based around the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and covers Communication and Language, Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Physical Development, Literacy, Numeracy, Understanding of the World and Expressive Arts and Design. Our curriculum is skills and knowledge based, using high quality texts and experiences to provide hooks to develop the children's love of learning and independence. Our curriculum is flexible to ensure we are able to follow the children's interests and passions where possible.
Alongside these areas of learning we encourage and celebrate the 3 Characteristics of Effective Learning which support the child in being curious, motivated learners. These include; Playing and Exploring, Active Learning, and Creating and thinking critically.
