Remote learning - Year 5 & 6.

Please find attached our remote learning overview for the week beginning 18/1/21.

There is a suggested timetable and outline of what learning will covered this week.

We look forward to seeing all the hard work you are doing at home!

Welcome to Year 5+6

Our current topic is displacement. We have linked all of our learning with our brilliant core text; The Other Side of Truth by Beverley Naidoo. We will explore the physical and emotional challenges faced by people who are forced to move, becoming refugees. Linking to our text, we listen to the stories of children who have become refugees and learn how they have adapted to their new ways of life.

In Science, we will be learning about forces. We will explore the effect of various forces upon objects and will conduct experiments & investigations to help us learn.

In maths we will be re-visiting decimals. Once we have a secure knowledge of place value involving decimals, we will learn to convert between fractions, decimals and percentages. We will continue to use concrete and pictorial resources regularly to support our learning.

Homework

Homework is set for Maths and English weekly on Fridays and can be accessed on Google Classroom using children's log-ins. It is due the following Friday.

Spelling cards are sent home every 3 weeks and should be revised weekly. Our current spelling card is PURPLE.

Children should also be reading regularly at home and revising their times-tables. The times-table rockstars website is great fun.
